Report an error, or ask about this site

This page is for the site itself — a wrong figure, a stale exemption amount, a broken link, a county whose filing option has changed. It is not a way to reach the Florida Department of Revenue or your county property appraiser about your own exemption.

Useful things to include: which page, what looks wrong, and — where you have one — the statute, bulletin, form or county website that shows the current figure. Most messages get a reply, but this is a one-person site, so response time varies and nothing here is a support desk with a guaranteed turnaround.

Who answers

Messages go to Marc Aschoff, who writes and maintains every page on the site (see about). There is no staff, call centre or chat line behind this address, and no phone number or office to visit; email is the only channel.

What is worth writing in about

  • A figure, deadline, form number or citation that looks wrong or out of date — the most useful message there is, because pages are checked against the statute or bulletin the figure comes from.
  • A county property appraiser or tax collector link that has moved, or a county that has changed whether it accepts online filing.
  • A question the pages leave unanswered, which is how blog posts get chosen.
  • A correction to the way a rule is explained, ideally with the section of the Florida Statutes or the agency page that supports it.

Corrections are verified against the primary source before a page is changed, and the page's review date is updated when a change is made.

What this address is not for

It does not reach the Florida Department of Revenue, your county property appraiser, your county tax collector, or any value adjustment board. It cannot check, file, change or look up the status of your own homestead exemption, and nothing sent here is read by anyone at those offices. For any of that, use the county directory to find your county's own property appraiser and tax collector, or go directly to floridarevenue.com.

Before you write in

If the question is "what does the Statute or the Department say about X," the fastest answer is usually the source cited at the bottom of the relevant page — every figure here links to the statute, bulletin or form behind it. If the question is about your own specific situation — whether you qualify, what your county requires, what your bill will actually be — that's exactly the kind of thing this site's disclaimer says it can't answer: contact your county property appraiser directly, or consult a qualified professional.
